NA-R6V

for Canon EOS R6V Camera

SKU # 17346

$ 4,700.00

The Canon EOS R6 V is a compact, video-first full-frame hybrid built around a newly developed 32.5MP CMOS sensor. It records 7K 60p 12-bit RAW internally, 7K 30p Open Gate for full-sensor reframing, oversampled 4K up to 60p, and uncropped 4K 120p for slow motion, all backed by an internal cooling fan that keeps long clips rolling. There is no built-in viewfinder: the R6 V is designed to be shot on its rear LCD screen or an external monitor, which makes the way it is housed and monitored underwater central to getting the shot.

Introducing NA-R6V

The Canon EOS R6 V Camera

That video-first design is exactly why the R6 V belongs in a purpose-built underwater system. A 32.5MP sensor feeding 7K RAW and oversampled 4K resolves every imperfection in the water column and in the glass in front of it, and shooting without an eye-level finder means the operator depends on a bright, well-placed monitor and controls that fall to hand on a moving reef. The NA-R6V is engineered to deliver both.

Canon EOS R6 V Specifications

  • 32.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor
  • 7K 60p internal 12-bit RAW recording
  • 7K 30p Open Gate capture
  • Oversampled 4K up to 60p and uncropped 4K 120p
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF with video-optimized subject tracking
  • In-body image stabilization with internal cooling fan for extended record times
  • Full-size HDMI output, dual card slots (CFexpress Type B + SD)

Resolution and dynamic range of this order demand optics designed for the job. Water is an unforgiving optical element, and a sensor recording 7K RAW will show softness, chromatic aberration, or a curved field that a lesser workflow would hide. The NA-R6V opens the R6 V to Nauticam's N120 port system and its family of premium water-contact optics, so the picture stays sharp corner to corner and the field of view is the one the scene actually needs.

The Nauticam NA-R6V Underwater Housing for the Canon EOS R6 V Camera

The NA-R6V is machined from solid aluminium, hard anodized, and depth rated to 100m. It arrives set up to dive: handles, stabilizing brackets, and the moisture alarm battery are pre-installed out of the box. The housing is designed as compact as possible, hugging the R6 V body closely, and is engineered to sit neutrally buoyant in the water with the camera and battery inside. Neutral trim minimizes fatigue over a long dive and maximizes stability for smooth handheld shots.

Mission Control Design

Every control the R6 V shooter reaches for on a dive is placed within a finger's travel of the ergonomic MIL handles. Record falls under the fingertip, so a take starts and stops without shifting grip. An AF-ON lever sits under the right thumb and a Playback lever under the left, so pulling focus and reviewing a take never means hunting for a button. The standout is a patent-pending dual-function lens control knob that handles both zoom and focus from a single wheel, switched between the two by a lever directly below it, which keeps power-zoom and manual-focus RF lenses fully controllable without cluttering the housing with duplicate gears.

Premium Professional Optics

The NA-R6V uses the N120 Auto Lock Port System II (international patent pending), which seats and locks the port with a positive, tool-free action and drives RF lenses through the RF Lens Gear System II. Canon builds excellent wide glass, and lenses like the RF 15-35mm f/2.8 L perform well behind a Nauticam glass dome port. Some loss of edge sharpness and contrast is an unavoidable limitation of any dome. Nauticam water contact optics maximize sharpness corner to corner while improving contrast and autofocus performance, which matters most on the large frame area the R6 V uses in 7K and Open Gate capture.

Standout Configurations

  • Canon RF 20-50mm f/2.8 power zoom with the WACP-1B — the best image quality available on this system. A constant f/2.8 power zoom driven through the housing's lens control knob, in front of water contact optics that hold the corners wide open.
  • Canon RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 with the WWL-C — the most compact water-corrected system possible, and the choice when travel weight and packed volume drive the decision.
  • Canon RF 100mm f/2.8 L Macro with the MFO-1, MFO-3 and SMC-3 — one macro lens and port covering an enormous range of subjects. The MFO-1 improves overall image quality with a slight increase in magnification and meaningfully improves autofocus speed and accuracy, the MFO-3 widens the field of view for fish portraits and larger critters, and the SMC-3 delivers the highest magnification in the range for the smallest subjects. All three mount in the water on a flip holder.

The N120 system also opens the door to the rest of Nauticam's water contact optics, including the WACP-2 at a 140 degree field of view with compatible 14mm lenses and the FCP reaching 170 degrees with compatible 28mm lenses. Refer to the N120 RF Mount II Port Chart (C50 / R6III / R6V) for the full lens, gear, and port combinations.

HDMI Output and External Monitoring

Because the R6 V has no built-in viewfinder, monitoring is not an accessory on this system, it is the primary interface. The NA-R6V routes the camera's full-size HDMI signal through a bulkhead to an external monitor housing, supporting both HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 cable systems. That opens up Nauticam's monitor and recorder housings, from the Atomos Ninja V and Ninja TX housings for 4Kp60 10-bit recording, to the Shinobi II housing for a lightweight bright monitor, to the 7-inch G7 and T7 UltraHD monitors for a large, gradable image on the reef. Purpose-built cables and M24 or M16 bulkhead options are available for each configuration.

USB-C Charging Between Dives

Sustained 7K RAW capture is demanding on the camera's battery. The NA-R6V accepts an optional USB-C bulkhead so a USB-PD power bank can top off the camera on the boat during a surface interval, without opening the housing. The bulkhead is fully sealed, so the housing holds its vacuum through charging and there is no need to pump down and re-check the seal before the next dive.

Lighting and Rigging

The NA-R6V is a video-focused housing: flash triggering and X-sync for still shooting are not supported. Underwater cinematographers light with continuous video lights, and the housing is built to carry them. An extensive set of mounting points supports lights, monitors, and support hardware, including sixteen 1/4-20 UNC points and an M10 thread on the front top for mounting balls, plus three 1/4-20 UNC points and six M5 points on the base for tripod plates, skids, and mounting balls.

Vacuum Check and Leak Detection System

The NA-R6V ships with a built-in moisture alarm and leak detector, powered by a pre-installed CR-2032 battery, that warns of water intrusion before it reaches the camera. Paired with the optional 25625 M16 Vacuum Valve II, the housing also monitors the vacuum seal, confirming a watertight assembly on the boat and holding that assurance through the dive. The electronics are temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms from a warming camera or changing water temperature.
