UNDERWATER TRIBE | RAJA AMPAT WITH NA-A7II

Underwater Tribe shooters Mike Veitch and Luca Vaime brought along the Sony A7SII in a Nauticam NA-A7II housing paired with the WWL-1 wet wide angle conversion lens on their latest trip to Indonesia’s Raja Ampat.  The NA-A7II is capable of housing both the low-light champion A7SII and the high-megapixel A7RII.

From Mike Veitch

The Sony A7SII and Nauticam NA-A7II housing were the perfect combination for our trip to Raja Ampat.  The beauty of the setup is that it allowed us to use the sharp and fast 28mm Sony f2.8 lens with the Nauticam WWL-1 adapter to capture the stunning wide angle scenes that Raja Ampat is known for with an angle of coverage of over 100º.  The flexibility of this combination meant having two lenses on one dive as it is easy to take the WWL off underwater to shoot smaller subjects with only the 28mm.  Although the output of this film is in 1080p, we were able to shoot everything at 4K which allowed us a lot more creative control in the editing process. The small size of the complete package was perfect as it allowed us to travel with the set up in a carry-on bag which was important for small plane travel in Indonesia.

Mike Veitch and Luca Vaime are the principal partners in the Underwater Tribe based in Bali, Indonesia.  Check out more of their work.
